Tinker and His Bow-Tie

My brothers and I always wanted a dog when we were young. With the exception of the one short year we kept my grandparents dog while they lived in an apartment, we never saw that wish of ours become a reality.  We would always stop in the pet stores to look at all the puppies and beg and plead with our parents to get us an adorable fur ball.  My Dad always said, “Ask your Mom”.  My Mom always said, “No. They’re too much work.”

When I was 16, I saw this tiny black Cocker Spaniel.  He was only a few weeks old and he was the runt of his litter. All the other puppies would step on him and he was always the last one to eat.  I fell in love with him and after a couple hours, convinced my Dad I just had to have him!  I am so glad I did because 8 years later, I still love him as much as the day I first saw him.  We named him Tinker and he has such a   funny personality.  There is nothing he loves more than relaxing and cuddling with me all day.

Now, I am not normally one of those people who dresses my dog up in little sweaters and hats.  I think it is completely ridiculous and humiliating! Especially for a boy. But when I found out that my brother David and his fiance Jessica’s wedding rehearsal was going to be at our house, I thought he had to look special for such a big occasion.  So I made him a bow-tie.  It was a hit with everyone and he looked so cute (in the most manly way of course). Just like Greg Heisler!
